Being a student and finding yourself in a rut often happen simultaneously. You can easily get stuck in the tedious program of study, essay and report writing. A great deal is expected from you each week and there will always be due dates and assessments looming on the horizon. There are many of simple ways to alter your student life to enable you to avoid the dreaded rut and be a much better student.

This particular issue is actually one that I know all too well because I am in the third year of my diploma and the clichd light at the end of the tunnel is growing nearer. Being in a student rut is horrible! Every now and then I lose touch with myself and come to feel as if I am merely some sort of assignment cyborg; putting out essays and assessments constantly. My mind can't seem to form words when I get the odd opportunity to socialize with other people and I flinch at the sight of a computer monitor.I have assembled a list of three tips that you can do to assist you get out of a student rut.

Take time out - I am aware that uni work should be the top concern in your life, nonetheless if you are upon the edge of a mental breakdown then it is necessary to take a break and do something which you will take pleasure in. Go out for a drink with a buddy, go see a new film or go for a jog and get some sun. Getting some space from your essays may be a good thing; after working on an essay for days on end you can become too familiar with your work and it is easy for you to miss problems. Taking a rest from your work will ultimately make it much better because you can look at it from a new perspective.

Eat healthy - This can be an incredibly tough thing to do when you are a student. When I am in the library studying I can get to the end of the working day and realise that over an entire day I've only ingested a can of Pringles and a can of Red Bull...definitely not great! Whenever you have got a full day at uni it is not unusual to see people having food that are fast and simple such as muesli bars and biscuits...also not good. Do a little research on food that can help with brain performance and aim to include them into your diet. A few examples of food items that have been verified to help with brain power are: avocados, eggs, dark chocolate (yessss!), coffee, acai berries, grain bread, walnuts and blueberries. Try to be prepared so that you can take healthy food to uni as it can often be better on your bank account and better for your physique. You may be able to focus much better if you are well fuelled.

Stress less - This is by far the major quandary that I have. Exam time is forever lurking around the bend and when it arrives I panic. It is not unusual for me to cry in my car prior to going into an exam. The dumb part about that is-I usually do well. I really don't need to be worrying to begin with. It is important to not leave your study until the very last minute-obviously-as entering an exam unprepared is ridiculous. Tests are typically worth a major portion of your grade and it is wise to be as prepared as you possibly can be. Dedicate specific days to specific subjects and work your way through your study and notes. Treat your study break like it is a standard university day; get up at a reasonable time, clean your teeth, get dressed and focus for the entire day like you were at uni. If you sleep in and attempt to study in your pyjamas then you are putting in a half-hearted attempt already. Additionally, be organised from your very first class and take comprehensive notes to help make life straightforward on you when exam time comes.
