Solar energy and its different kinds

By Greg Dickson

We have always been using solar energy in one form or the other. Even the early Romans used solar energy to keep the homes warm and light. They made passive house designs back in those days. Even today solar power has abounding uses from keeping the house warm to using solar energy as electricity. The sun-powered heating systems are also similarly popular.

Passive solar energy is one out of many different ways to use solar energy. From passive solar energy, we mean the direct use of solar power. One can use it keep the room light and water warm. These would fall into passive use of solar energy. The other uses include a full passive house and water heaters using efficient strategies to capture the solar energy. Even a tree in front of a window can act as a way to use passive solar energy. You can keep the tree branches in summer while trim them in winter to get some more heat and light from the sun.

Another use of solar energy is water heating. The solar water heaters aren't especially new since their use can be traced back to early human development. Nonetheless the popularity and use of these water heaters has grown with time since the inception of new and cutting edge solar technologies.

Solar pools heaters are another smart use of solar passive energy. Using solar pool cover is very suggested for folk with pools in cold regions. The sunlight will be captured using pool covers. This may keep the water warm even in winter.

Solar energy may also be used in place of electricity. To put it in simple words, you can use solar cells to produce electricity from the daylight. You may then use the electricity to satisfy your energy wishes. These PV cells have become more efficient with time allowing even more electricity in lesser daylight exposure.
