There is an international airport in Varadero but please be aware that it is mainly for charter flights coming from Canada and Europe. Schedule flights arrive mainly to Havana airport but it only takes 2 hours by road from Havana to Varadero. Moving around Varadero
There is a double-decker open-on-top bus that runs on a regular schedule from the tip of the peninsula to the town. You can also hire a car or even better a scooter which is more justifiable given the small size of the peninsula.

A park in the middle of Varadero filled with birds, vendors, music and camel rides for the kids or and Excursion by Catamaran, snorkelling in a coral barrier reef or spending time swimming with dolphins seem to be the most popular of activities in Varadero. However there is much more to do and you can be advised by the tourist desk in your hotel reception.

Simply say NO and keep going. Apart from the odd encounter with undesirable street hustlers there is no much to worry about.
