Electrical safety in the home - is of utmost importance, but is probably something that gives little importance.

When you consider that each year about 6700 fires were reported as having an electrical source, you can see how electrical safety really is. These statistics include fires started by faulty wiring or inadequate. Accidents involving electric shock are also a cause of death and serious injury. About 43 deaths and 2900 serious injuries occur from electrical faults each year.

We tend to forget that cables, switches, sockets and other devices can be time consuming and it is important to get them checked regularly and, if necessary, replaced by a qualified electrician.

Many people are not aware of the fact that the new building regulations in force in January 2005, if you need electrical work in your home or garden in England and Wales, you must now follow. This is a new area of building regulations and has called part P (electrical safety). Give clear guidance on what kind of work you can do yourself and those who need to run a competent, qualified electrician. Remember that you may need to use a competent person to comply with building regulations.

It is important that all electrical work is carried out only by those who have the knowledge, skills and experience of the type of electrical work to do.

You should not attempt even the simplest of electrical work if you have any doubts about the task. You'll notice that these days most cameras come with molded connectors that are already linked with the fuse properly evaluated. The colors of the son live and neutral in electrical cables, switches from red to brown and black to blue. It is now the same as the son in flexible cables for portable devices.

Remember - always use an installer who is registered with a competent person scheme as mentioned above.
