The Marvels Of A Leather Briefcase

By Carolina Walsh

When the idea of versatility and quality is being talked of, then one would not miss out on a leather briefcase. The kind of materials used to design and make these items makes them have this quality. The bags are durable and easy to handle. This is mainly because the raw materials used are from animals like cattle. These include cows, goats, sheep and camels. Sometimes, the skins and hides are also obtained from other animals.

The animal is skinned and the flesh completely scraped off using a very sharp high quality scraper. The skin is then soaked in a special liquid called lime. This alkaline solution sterilizes and makes the hide free of bacteria that destroy the material if not curbed. It is then dried and stretched to make it ready for use.

Other ways to make the bags also include matter from vegetable-tanned, chrome-tanned and use of synthetic fibers. The barks of the trees make up the matter from vegetables. Chromium sulfate and other salts of chromium are used to produce this chrome-tanned material industrially.

The tanning of aldehyde is done using a number of chemicals. Synthetic materials are also in use today. Some of these include aromatic polymers which are artificially produced. There is a wide range of these materials being used.

They come in handy sizes and shapes depending on the preference of the customer. With all these types of materials used in the manufacturer, one does not need to specify the type he or she needs. The materials have different type of qualities in terms of flexibility and brittleness, in terms of the ability to shrink and to maintain the original color.

The intended use of the item greatly determines the materials used in the manufacture. Most of these designs are customized in order to suit the needs of almost each and every user. Some people like making orders straight from the factories. In order to come up with a complete and marvelous leather briefcase, very complex processes have to be undertaken.
