How Does Insurance Help Victims

Crime hurts everyone, but the victim obviously has the brunt of trauma and getting his/her life back together and it can be quite daunting. So where do you go for help and what steps are you supposed to follow?

People in crisis have a hard time navigating through all the debris left over whither it be emotional or physical, and if you are personally involved it might be hard to just get out of bed, let alone start putting your life back together, so don't, get help.

Sexual abuse trauma can bring on many posttraumatic stress and other symptoms, some of which could be anger, loneliness, embarrassment, depression, shock, denial, revengeful thoughts, and or wanting to harm you. Your body might be sending you signal's through insomnia, stomach problems, low sex drive, anxiety attacks, weight loss, and memory problems. You might feel you have trouble controlling your temper, unnecessary or over-frequent washing, and or having trouble getting along with others.

On a crime scene you will have the immediate responders such a police, health care professionals, and maybe firemen depending on the circumstance but what you will not find is a professional to follow up with your emotional needs. In the aftermath of a trauma persons go through many stages; grief, anger, depression, trouble sleeping. These or others may be part of the physical and emotional trauma that lingers after a circumstance that leaves you traumatized and unfortunately these symptoms can show up weeks to months after an incident.

Because the aftermath of a trauma can leave you unbalanced, insecure or many of the other symptoms previously mentioned it is important that you seek out professional help in the way of a therapist. Friends and relatives are a nice idea however their support can only last so long and your needs can extend for months.

Many times a victim might not even know what they are feeling, and or may still be in shock. A therapist can help you identify and walk through the emotions, helping you cope, manage and move through the different symptoms getting you back to a normal life. You need not live with regret, depression, loneliness for something that someone did to you. If you are having medical problems due to the trauma, a therapist can help with medications and or will work with your personal doctor to help you on your way to recovery.

If you trauma involves a crime you need to have the proper authorities take the proper steps but that doesn't help you with your emotional and physical stress. You will need a professional for that and there are many available via the internet, of phone book however it is recommended that you see what your health provider can provide first.

You deserve to have a normal healthy life, if you or anyone you know has at any time been sexually assaulted please see help immediately and get back the emotional and physical well being of a healthy person. Get the tools to empower yourself, giving you freedom and the ability to move forward.
