Plasma Vs LCD Tvs

By Billy Moss

What difference can you observe when you watch the same show on a plasma screen TV and an LCD TV? That depends mostly on where you watch it.

You won't be able to detect a great difference if you place the TV sets side by side in a well-lit room. But with the light turned off, you'll get a better picture from the plasma TV. This is because there is more light being blocked from the background. On an LCD TV, some of the background lighting is not effectively blocked, which makes it look like weakened background colour.

Also, for you to see the difference between the two types, you have to consider the angle from which you are viewing the TV. If you are head on, watching from the center of a room, you will have a more accurate comparison. But if you view from an angle, you'll see that plasma TVs are better than LCD TVs. The picture from an LCD TV isn't that great if you move away from the center. A plasma TV would be great in a room with lots of seating options because people would get a good picture no matter where they sit.

When it comes down to making a decision between choosing a plasma screen TV or an LCD screen TV, the truth is that it is simply a matter of personal taste. Both kinds of television sets have the same approximate life span, about 25 years if the television is watched six hours a day or less. They even have the same energy consumption. This wasn't the case before. When plasma TV first came out, it needed more power than LCD TVs. The advancement in technology remedied that little issue.

Plasma TVs are also at a great advantage when it comes to the size. Plasma TVs are usually 2-5 inches thick. The LCD TVs are much thicker. You can mount a plasma TV on the wall because of its thinness. It becomes a decoration in addition to being an entertainment accessory!
