Beware Of The Counterfeit Luxury Watches

By Denise Jackson

It would be a shame if after spending all your savings on what you thought was one of the genuine luxury watches, you discover it is counterfeit. You may have bought it as a gift for someone special and feel such a fool for being caught out. You are left asking yourself why you did not do a bit more research before buying it.

It is so easy with hindsight to see what steps you should have taken to make sure you were getting what you were paying for. Step one would be to do your homework and research the particular model of watch you are looking to buy. Visiting a few jewelers or checking on the internet should provide you with information on price and what to look for when buying.

If you actually visit a few stores you can have a look at their window display and will probably find the watch you are looking for. So you see the watch first hand and can compare the prices with other jewelers shops or online sellers.

Another useful source if you are checking out prices is the manufacturers website. You will probably be able to see images of the watch, and they often provide images showing their trademark or other recognizable features you can look for on an original watch.

Manufacturers often include details of their authorized jewelers who stock and sell their products, on their website. It is advisable to purchase direct from the manufacturer, or only from one of the authorized jewelers on their list. The more expensive and exclusive the watch, the more likely it is that they can only be purchased through certain sources.

In the first instance counterfeit luxury watches may look like the real thing, but they are liable to break easily and look tatty in a very short space of time. There is a huge market in the buying and selling of counterfeit goods, but it pays to remember it is a crime.
