Covers To Use For Floor Protection During Construction

By Kelley Vazquez

Floor protection during construction is good because after the constructors have finished their job, the surface will still be in a good condition as compared to a scenario where the tiles will need replacement because of the damage caused. Construction involves the use of heavy equipment which could be dragged on the floor causing damage. For one to be able to choose the best cover, he or she must know what the region needs protection from.

One of the cheapest and most common protector used is the cardboard. The corrugated cardboard comes in handy at these times. They can be obtained from local shops at a very cheap price. They are then flattened and cut so that they can snugly fit over the entire area. The ends are then taped together so that they can remain intact. If there is possibility of sharp objects falling on the surface, then two layers are required.

Masonite is a hardboard material which is wooden in nature. It is one of the protectors which constructors prefer because of its durability and effectiveness. Its thickness ensures that sharp objects that may fall do not damage the tiles. Heavy materials can be moved across the building without any damage occurring.

The use of a soft material is also recommended, one such cover is the foam rubber tile. It is made from a soft rubber which resembles that used by children on playing areas. They help reduce damage from falling objects. This is because it reduces the impact of falling objects on the floor, thus damage will not be done.

Plastics are also a very common alternative especially in prevention of dust particles from getting onto the ground. The plastic cover is laid down on the area which needs to be protected so that small particles that are hard to remove do not get into the space between tiles. They are also cheap and readily available.

From the above article, it is eminent that temporary floor protection when undertaking construction is a good way of preventing the area from being worn out by heavy equipment and dust that come from maintenance site. Read more about: floor protection during construction
