The Race To The Conference Championship Amongst NBA Eastern Conference Teams

By Anthony Lasanta

If you follow basketball, you know that this year's season, up to this point, has been nothing short of awesome! Many of the teams that are always at the top of the standings have now become somewhat vulnerable and lots of the newer teams are making themselves known as worthy contenders. This means that the postseason cannot be predicted, thus the answer to just who is going to end up at the top is not known.

The Lakers are still playing like the favorites to win the Western Conference and while anything can happen in the playoffs, it's the Eastern Conference that seems to be a bit more interesting at the moment.

Have you been trying to figure out what teams in the Eastern Conference will actually end up in the NBA finals? Here we will discuss the three teams that have the best chance of making it there.

The first team is Orlando, who is only seven games behind Cleveland and, thus, in 2nd place overall in the Eastern Conference. They made it all the way to the finals just last season and have a very good chance of doing that again this season.

The problem with Orlando this year is that they simply don't seem to be playing with the same vigor that they played with last year. Orlando has some time to turn things around, but it needs to start now.

Boston got the NBA title the season before last. Two key players, Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce, have been dealing with injuries this season and are obviously not playing at the top of their game. This team has a great core to it and they need to maintain that. However, the rumor that is going around concerning the trading of Ray Allen would not be beneficial to this team.

Last but not least, the team that is playing fantastic basketball this season is Cleveland. Shaquille O'Neal is a part of that lineup and, with a slow start behind them, they are the #1 team in the Eastern Conference right now. They will need to continue their fabulous playing and go on to defeat Orlando and Boston, the two teams that have defeated them during the prior two years.
