By Robert Vail

If you are just learning how to drive for the first time, getting your learner's permit can be difficult and exciting all at once. Here are some of the rules about the California permit practice test and getting your learner's permit in general. There are also some rules about driving safely as a teenager.

In order to apply for a learner's permit, in accordance with the DMV guidelines for the state of California, you need to be a minimum of 15 years old. In order to obtain the permit, all applicants are must pass a vision test and a written exam. The applicant must log 50 hours of driving time, he date of issue and hold the provisional permit for six months from the date of issue before they apply for a driver's license.

According to the DMV guidelines for the state of California, the applicant must pass a written test on safe driving techniques, motor vehicle laws, and traffic signs. If the applicant fails the test, they must wait a week before they can retake the test and must pay a fee for reexamination. In order to prevent having to stand in line at the DMV Office and then fail the test, the applicant should study for the test. There are some real sample questions that are available on the Internet. Applicants should take the practice test before they take the actual learner's permit test to test their knowledge.

Prior to going to the California DMV Office, the applicant should be sure that they have all of the following documents that are required for the applicant to get their learner's permit:

The application fee payment. Proof of enrollment in driver training classes/drivers education. Personal identification. Proof of legal presence and birth date. Social security number Signature of a guardian or a parent or guardian on the application form DL 44

Until the applicant reaches the age of 17 or begins their behind the wheel driver's training with an instructor, the provisional permit isn't valid. When the applicant first receives their California provisional permit, an adult who is at least 25 years old, a spouse, a guardian, or a parent that has a California Driver's license that is valid, must accompany the applicant when they are driving. He/she must be in a close enough position to be able take over control of the vehicle, if required. These are the rules of taking the California practice test and how to get your learner's permit.
