Yeast Infection Treatment at Home

By John Danew

Yeast infections affect many people men and women, though women more often. You can actually get a yeast infection pretty much anywhere on the body and some have internal candida overgrowth too. The most common area though is the vagina where signs include itching, burning, red and swollen and possibly a cottage cheese like discharge. Treatment should be done as soon as you know you have one as the sooner you treat it the easier it is to cure. There are medications or products you can buy or be prescribed but there are home remedies for a yeast infection too that you might want to start with.

Tea Tree Oil This is a natural healing essential oil that has some quite amazing properties, the key one for a yeast infection being anti-fungal. It is a potent essential oil though so needs to be diluted or mixed with another oil or substance. Examples are other oils such as Olive or even with rubbing alcohol. Mix them together in several dropper bottles and apply daily for at least 7 days to treat the yeast infection.

2) Garlic has very strong anti-fungal properties. You need raw garlic and you can use it like a suppository inserting a clove up the vagina and changing it every few hours for three days. You can also choose to mash up the garlic and apply like a thick cream or take garlic supplements.

3) Vinegar, in particular you should be using ACV or apple cider vinegar. Add a cup to your bath water and soak in it for at least 20 minutes. Then rinse and dry the area thoroughly. Do this once a day for several days until the infection clears up.

These are just three yeast infection treatment at home options there are others. Home remedies are not always effective for everyone though so you may have to try more than one before you get results. You can also usually find people for and against them, for example yogurt is another popular home remedy but some say it is just an old wives tale. While putting yogurt into or up the vagina may not be a good idea, you may find like others that on the outside it soothes the itching and burning so is good for the symptoms.
