St Augustine Weddings A Unique Destination Wedding

By Teresa Fields

Instead of holding weddings at your hometown like everyone else, it might be a good idea to consider St Augustine weddings. You can hold your special day at a bed and breakfast in one of the most historic cities in North America. At the same time, you can spend your honeymoon there too.

St Augustine in Florida is not just famous for gorgeous beaches but also for interesting tourist spots where you can find historic sites from way back 1513 when the place was discovered by Spanish explorer Juan Ponce de Leon. It has over 400 years of rich history to show visitors.

The city is the oldest city in the United States of America. Its history starts from the founding of the city by Pedro Menendez in 1565 and the historic reign of Henry Flagler in late 1800. Flagler was a famous and successful railroad entrepreneur who helped develop the city and put it on the map.

The city is also considered a focal point in black history. The first Underground Railroad ran from the British southern colonies to Spanish Florida where escaped slaves would be given freedom. The location where slaves became free men is now a national historic landmark managed by the Florida Park Services.

The city is well known for great beaches, restaurants, shopping, museums and the historical community. The wedding couple and their guests can hold the wedding there and explore the old side of town. It is like having a grand vacation at the same time in one of the most famous cities in the country.

If you have your wedding ceremony at a bed and breakfast in St. Augustine, you can customize your music. A licensed officiator will make the union official. You and your guests will have your own bedrooms. The newly married couple will get to ride on a horse carriage around the old city districts.
