Boilers Available For Home Heating Systems

By Johnny Parsons

There are lots of ways to heat your home but most will involve a heating system that uses a boiler of some sort. Here is a short list of the kind of boilers that you could choose from and the kind of fuel that they use but even though this list has a variety of different types there are more available.

Gas Boilers

Conventional Boilers are not considered to be very cost effective and this is because they need to burn fuel to pump hot water around the radiators while a lot of heat is lost through the air. If you want to take a bath then you are going to have to heat up the water beforehand and unless you actually take the bath immediately, you could end up wasting money.

Combination Boilers have the ability to heat up the water only when it is required which makes them a much more economical option than the conventional heaters. Hot water can be turned on instantly and heating can knock on and off when it needs to heat and pump hot fluid around the heating system.

Other Types of Boiler

Oil Boilers are very popular these days because of the fact that they are so economical but they could cause you problems if you allow them to run out of fuel so this is something you need to avoid. With an oil boiler the fuel is stored on the property which is different to a gas boiler where the gas is pumped in directly by the supplier.

LPG Boilers are no different from your normal gas boilers except that they need to have been converted in order to run this fuel. However it can be very expensive to get your boiler converted and unless there is no supply of piped gas it is not really practical.

The reality is that the price of LPG fuel is not that different from the price of piped gas so it is probably not worth spending all that money on getting your boiler converted.
