Costa Esmeralda is the most popular areas to visit; this idyllic but exciting region offers a little something for each holiday seeker. Informally known as the Emerald Coast, this stretch of land runs along the Gulf coast of Mexico, Florida. At one stage it was an area of great controversy over shipping rights for this inlet, but it has grown immensely over the past few centuries in economic stability and popularity.

Homes that are built on the beach fronts here sell for huge profits. Housing many of the American military facilities as well as the largest base built in America. Besides a military career, the populace has also been employed in the tourism industry. Other key employers are the fishing industries and civil engineering.

This 100 mile long coastline runs all the way through five countries. An enormous array of pastimes may be done while on a visit to this stunning destination. One of many big attractions are the deep-sea fishing spots, producing a number of the world's biggest recorded catches.

But those tourists that come to this holiday destination will most certainly not end up disappointed. For those that are less adventurous there is guided historical tours on offer, where any one may discover the history this significant portion of land has. Furthermore every person must look into taking one or more of the picturesque cruises, where possibly a vessel traversing the Mira Flores Locks may be witnessed, this is one of many lock systems used throughout the canal systems.

Some may even experience how the lock system works which will be well worth the wait if allowed. These locks date back to 1909 and are considered one of the most innovative engineering marvels of its time. Included in the tour is the Casco Viejo area which is home to gorgeous Spanish architectural designs, the San Jose church which has a gold altar, Las Bovedas as well as the Flat Arch, and many more historical buildings.

This coastal district will appeal to many nature lovers. With an island housing the three toed sloth, capuchin and howler monkeys, a trip down the coast of the Gatun Lake will be the best cruise. Anton valley is the world's only populated volcanic crater, and one may hike through the valley to go and relax in many of the natural heated springs or walk through the zoo.

Adventurers searching for an adrenalin rush will definitely not be disappointed when coming here. Trips through the rain forest are definitely highly recommended. Consisting of a walk through the forest, a steep zip line journey and kayaking, definitely not for the faint hearted or unfit.

But when it comes to beaches and oceans Costa Esmeralda has by large the most interesting. Scuba diving under these waves is inspiring for many, and of course surfing is a must. Either way one will fall in love with this place.
