This will help you tell your audience what your site is about and help search engines understand how relevant your site is to certain searches. I have created two niche sites that rank on the first page of Google primarily because they have the keyword in the URL.
Step One: Pick four things that help define a person. I'm going to use a lifestyle, a job type, an area of the world, and a TV show. It's better if you know about these different things or are passionate about them. It makes writing easier.

Keyword tools allows you to see how often people search for keywords in your niche and see how many people compete for that keyword. It is awesome.
Step Four: After doing the research in Google Keywords, you'll be able to know how many people search for which terms in your niche. You'll want to pick the keywords with the lowest competition and then see if there is a URL that you can use. For my example, the URL might be mechaniccrossfitter.com or IdahoWalkingDead.com. This will help you with SEO after your website is created and tells the audience, up front, what the site is about.
