The Kinds of Guayabera You Can Try

By August Everett

The guayabera belongs to the ranks of the most enduring top designs ever. Most people coming from Latin backgrounds know the shirt on sight. Even today's generation has embraced it eagerly as part of their wardrobe.

The design has not exactly stayed static, however. The design was allegedly based on an old type of peasant's shirt. There have been quite a few alterations to it since then, though.

It is traditionally menswear made for warm climates. There are pleated hems striped down the front of the shirt. The shirt also always comes with four pockets.

There has yet to be a satisfactory explanation for the four pockets, in fact. It is still up for debate what people put in the pockets and why they required so many on a single shirt. Some claim that the common use of the pockets was as storage for fruits.

Guayabera shirts are clearly tops meant to suit their particular locale and the people who used to wear them even back in the old days. Because it is made of airy fabrics, it can be worn even in the hottest climes. Should you also happen to require pocket space, there are the four pockets ready and waiting.

Aside from all that, it can make a nice fashion statement. No design would manage to last so long if it did not have some sort of aesthetic appeal. And through the years, people have altered it to suit the occasion or wearer in a variety of ways.

For example, one can find formal types of it made out of top-quality cloth. The most common versions have full sleeves on them. Most of the time, they have quite a bit more decoration on the front or on the yoke.

There are even kiddy versions. Aside from the tiny sizing, there are not often a lot of differences in the actual design from the original here. These can be great when you want to dress up your kid but want him to feel comfortable as well.

Even the female portion of the market is being offered a variation. These days, you will discover more and more girls wearing these shirts and dresses. It is not uncommon to find them being worn now on streets everywhere.

Time will tell what other variations of the guayabera may crop up in the future. What this does mean, though, is that you can look forward to a nicely diversified wardrobe if you do happen to like this style. You never know what might await you in the next wave of designs for it.
