Race And Get Colored At A Color Run

By Debra Z. Hardeman

The Color Run is not a run-of-the mill race which is the reason each year people come from all over the country to participate in it. More and more people can participate in this race because it takes place in more than 25 locations throughout the US. Along with the fun and enjoyment of taking part in the race, a charity from the local area will be benefitting from the race. Participants can choose to run in the race or volunteer to be a part of the crew. Either way, participants are sure to have a bright colored day.

On the day of the race, people will arrive sporting their white shirts and bright smiles. Once the race starts, runners will go as fast as they can across the starting line. In each section, racers will have colors thrown on them, and they shouldn't expect to make it to the end of the race with white shirts. Their white shirts will now adorn yellow, blue, purple, green, and pink colors as they have colored corn starch thrown at them all through the race. It is recommended that racers wear sunglasses to block out the sun and protect their eyes from flying colors.

People can take part in the Color Run as a volunteer if they don't want to race or will be unable to. The pigmentation has to get on all of the racers, after all. As the racers run by, volunteers have the chance to throw handfuls of colored corn starch on them. Along with being incredibly fun, it is also a great way to get over some of the frustration and disappointment of not getting to run in the race. Volunteers will receive a special t-shirt for participating, but they will not be compensated for the work that they do. Some of the money from racer sign up is portioned out and contributed to a charity in the local area.

At the conclusion of the 5K run, racers will have a good time by throwing handfuls of colored corn starch at each other as they cross the finish line. Food and music will also be offered at the finish line, so people who come out will get to make an entire day of the event. People can attend the event even if they were not a member of the race or the crew. People from all over are encouraged to attend.

Being a part of the Color Run is an interesting adventure, and it is certain to brighten up a person's day. With over 25 different cities to choose from, there is sure to be one in your area. You will be able to take pleasure in some great food and music, and spend the rest of the day with your friends and fellow racers after being covered in colored corn starch from head to toe.
