There are many people in the world who have mental or physical disabilities. Some of them cannot function at all without the care and attention provided by their families or by a special facility. However, there are also people with disabilities who are eager to work and have a capacity to be productive. To cater to these people, New York vocational rehabilitation can help them land an employment.

This is a set of services provided to those who suffer from disabilities who can still work. Training for work is an essential part of this service. They determine what job that person is qualified to do, find an employer, and stay with it.

There are different criteria as to who is eligible for this service in different states. The applicant must show medical records that present their conditions. They should also prove that they find it hard to be employed in any job without the rehabilitation services.

The government used to be the only agency that offered these services. But nowadays, private agencies have expressed their desire to do the same. The state will then issue a permit to those organizations who reach the standards of the government. Their progress will also be monitored by government officials to make sure that the standards are still upheld.

Some cases even involve job placement where the rehabilitation agency finds an employer to hire someone with disabilities. Job coaches will assist these individuals until they will be ready to work on their own.

Like any system, New York Vocational Rehabilitation also have its problems. It will be the counselor's decision whether a disorder is too severe to allow a person to join the program. The services tend to gear the rehabilitated person for low-paying jobs. These conditions might discourage people from continuing the training.
