Beefing Up Security Within Your Vacation House

By Randle F Hauck

My family always wanted having a vacation home much like everybody else. The challenging part to owning one, though, is that it is left vacant usually. When we finally made a purchase, we understood we needed to find ways to strengthen the security within the premises.

We obtained the HomeSafe wireless home security system because we felt that it will be easy to set up and easy to use. If any individual tries to get into our home, this tool would alert us to that even if we aren't around.

Our purchase was comprised of a base unit, an AC adaptor, a window/door sensor with a wireless transmission range of 250 feet, a motion detector having a range of 8 yards, and a remote control with panic feature to switch on and deactivate the included alarm.

This kind of wireless security system will sound an alarm when a door or window being protected is opened up. At the same time, a motion detector is triggered, upon which it will send a signal to the base unit to contact the first preset telephone number on your list.

Up to 5 pre-programmed telephone numbers can be dialed one by one to tell these numbers' owners of activity in your home. The individual who answers will hear an alert message which is pre-recorded.

That individual is going to get the chance to listen in on any motion in the room, broadcast a message via the base unit, or turn off the system. If no person answers the first dialed number, or in the event that the person who does opts not to disarm the system, then it will continue to call the other listed phone numbers.

The way that the system works is great for us mainly because we will not be around to watch our property often. However if an intruder breaks in, we will be warned. For the setup to work like it should, a landline with tone dialing is needed.

Having a wireless home security system installed in our rest house is such a relief. Not only is our second home protected, we know also that we are secure whenever we go for a visit.
