So Far So Good - Power Trim Lawn Edger Review

By Ashley Martin

The electric start is far more reliable than a gas engine. While the Edge Hog can't trim next to trees or the house, of course, it clears a straight line next to walks with ease and can trench a line around garden beds.

I think that people who buy this product will find that it is good value for the money. I got tired of buying gas edgers and having them break down. It wasn't very loud either. I will have to purchase a longer extension cord since I had to use two of them to reach all the areas we needed to edge.

Twenty years later I was a homeowner, edging my own lawn with a manual (push and grunt) edger that worked as well as the spade and bayonet, but with less time and effort from me. Ten years after that, I graduated to a string trimmer, and was able to groom my lawn with much less effort, although much more dirt and noise.

It is easy to use and did a fantastic job with little effort on my part. My significant other uses this Black and Decker Electric Lawn Edge Hog and he is extremely happy with it!

It's a substantial blade, and in my view well worth the $7 cost. I have neighbors with 2 in 1 trimmers (the kind with nylon rope) that can be oriented 90 degrees to act like an edger.

I believe the blade was cold-rolled instead of hot-rolled, which will make the blade more durable. This Edger replaced a seventeen year old Black & Decker Edger. The edger makes a much better trench next to my driveway, much more easily. Since my old driveway is level, or even a bit below, the lawn, water tends to pool on it after a rain. I would buy it again if and when this one wears out. This is a good edger if your yard isn't huge. They were out of stock and I had to back order. Few weeks later I had two new tiny bits of plastic attached to a thin strip of metal.

One thing that's nice is the adjustable depth but don't count on it being accurate. As soon as the blade wears some, it's worthless for that.

Myself, I used a $5 sweeper nozzle, which was highly effective. The whole yard has a much better look. It will fill with mud but is easy to clean out. Real easy to assemble but the grass was over the driveway about three inches in places.
