I purchased almost 2 years ago. I have used various sized cell phones all the way up to the gigantic EVO.
I'd give it more stars if the "clip" construction was better quality. I purchased this mount for my iPhone before a trip and was very pleased with it.
It works great with Otterbox defender on iPhone 4 - clever design and easy lock and release mechanism that has plenty of flexibility. Went out on a limb with this purchase but very pleased with this mount that will keep me safer and provides a great place for my phone. This unit is completely adjustable and functions well. It is compatible with the Droid Incredible.
The vent clips are poorly designed, and have a hard time holding onto the vents. Though they have several teeth implying you can set them deeper in for better grip, only one set of all those teeth is actually aligned to grab the vent properly.
None of the pieces deteriorated when I parked in the sun, and the clamp stayed tight and didn't break even though I released it way more often than I should. I still use this product every day with my iPod to and from work.
I take the mega grip off and slip it on the vent mount in my car. The vent mount is okay, I'm not a big fan of them but it gets the basic job done. The suction cup for the windshield is nice and heavy duty and doesn't let go in the hot sun the way my Garmin will. The vent clip fits on both my old S70 Volvo and my wife's Audi but isn't quite as tight gripped onto the fins of the vent as I would like.
EVO 4G owners, this is the clip for you. I'm not saying that other smartphone owners (Droid, Droid-X, Droid-2, iPhone) cannot use this in fact I dare say it's the best mount for any of those phones - but I have an EVO and it's PERFECT. The windshield mount holds very secure, I put it on the first day I got it and it hasn't budged since. I like that with my Droid X I can still plug in the power cable and have the case on while in the dock. I give it 4 stars instead of 5 because the vent clip mount (which I was using while waiting for the suction cup) is not that great. It connects, but it's very wobbly. That thing is very feeble and doesn't hold the device well at all. It seems to fit my Odyssey vent easily though unlike many people's experiences where it won't mount on the vents at all.
The housing does not block the charge or audio ports and it will hold the phone in landscape position. Great product and great buy. Other than that, great product I use this case with my EVO. I have it clipped to my vent and I have not had a problem with it yet. Despite its poor design, it does function properly as a mount with my Samsung Galaxy S 4G. I clipped this onto my vent and am surprised at how well it works.
