By Ryan Necaise

If you suffer with shyness, you already know how troublesome it can be. You have likely wondered many times how to get rid of shyness. The good news is you can overcome shyness the not-so-good news is, it's not going to happen overnight. If you keep the tips listed below in mind and apply it, you can take drastic strides in ultimately putting shyness behind you.

Remember It's Not About You

Confess. When you're gripped in the throes of a shyness panic attack, you worry about what other people will think about you. You are consumed with the mind set that you do not know what to do, and that everyone else does know these things. Similarly, you know that after you open your mouth, people present are going to giggle at you, or ignore you, or throw stringed cheese at you.

Stop! Believe it or not, everyone is not consumed with you. Many of us are involved in our own small daily dramas and do not routinely direct all our attention on strangers. You must learn to stop focusing on what other people will think about you and turn your thoughts to the positive. Remind yourself you are funny, smart and have something useful to contribute. Do this each time you are feeling shy and you'll begin to see a difference.

Pretend You Are Not Shy

Just imagine. Start out in front of your mirror at home, and then expand your range. Pretend you're a charismatic individual who radiates confidence. Smile at others when you meet them and watch how they warm up to you . And if they don't, forget them. Move onto someone else and keep being your new, assured self.

Learn Something

Anything. Follow your interests and learn more about them. Do not be frightened to try new things. Try and stay in the loop about what is occurring in your community and area. The more that you know and the more interests you have, the more at ease you'll feel during any interaction because you have more to discuss. This will help you overcome the shyness you feel while attempting to make small talk.
