Mount Kosciuszko National Park

The Yarrangobilly Caves are an engaging place to visit while you are in the Snowy Mountains. There are several caves to explore, though you'll need to travel deep into the mountains to get there. Campervan Hire Sydney will supply the transport and you should prepare to see some extremely unusual things at the caves, unique to say the least.

You will need to travel to the Yarrangobilly River Valley which is found at the northern end of the Mount Kosciuszko State Park. This stream valley is stuffed with extremely deep gorges which have corresponding ragged bluffs and the Yarrangobilly Caves can be found down in among the gorges.

The caves are a geological playground, formed over thousands of years and provide an amazing array of natural stone formations. They are formed from limestone and the series of caves are strung out along the gorge. They contain some entrancing features, forged from the limestone and include awe-inspiring columns which contrast with many fine decorations and shawl-like formations.

The caves also have underground pools and enormous chambers which can be unreservedly explored by either self guided or led tours. The South Glory Cavern is self led while the North Glory, Jillabenan and Jersey require guides. A torchlight tour is also available for an extra special treat, on request as is the discovery tour at the Harrie Wood Cave and the Castle Cavern.

There's a naturally formed thermal pool at Yarrangobilly Caves as well and because it stays at a relentless 27 degrees (celcius) all year long, is the perfect place for a swim. Yarrangobilly Caves are fantastically fascinating and demonstrate the peculiarities of geological whims over a substantial period of time. The shaw-like formations are particularly beautiful at night by torchlight so if you're ready to prepare it, you'll be rewarded by an extraordinary sight.
