When You Should Use Wireless Credit Card Machines

By Clarice Cohen

In the mind of your customer, wireless credit card machines indicate that they're frequenting a real business. When you are a small business person, these perceptions are everything. You've made the first move distinguishing yourself from the street hustlers, and laid the foundation for success.

Maybe your business is a small Mexican food stand that, for today, has one kiosk out of thirty-five kiosks, each with its own small business. Together, you're sharing what used to be a department store in a strip mall. These are the early years for your business. For less than $200, you can be one Wi-Fi station in the LAN everybody shares. Now you can accept plastic.

Alternately, perhaps you've purchased a coffee shop franchise and are doing business inside a large supermarket. The last thing you want is cables on the floor where someone can trip on them, then get up wondering whether they ought to sue you or the supermarket. Further, a wall outlet might not be an option. Once again, it's a good idea to have a wireless connection to the store's Local Area Network.

One day you'll even have that open space in the strip mall entirely for your business. What was once your little flower shop has grown into a large gardening and landscaping supplies emporium. Now the network is all yours. You'll still want 'Wi-Fi', one for each department, so that your cashiers can sell shovels on one side of the space, and potted plants in another.

The advantages of using 'Wi-Fi' are clear enough. So too are the advantages of accepting these cards in the first place. It has been demonstrated that customers spend more when using their cards than when using cash. They shouldn't, but in truth, they simply do.

Having discussed the advantages of Wi-Fi, it's easier still to demonstrate the advantages for a business that takes these cards for payment. It has been firmly proven that when shoppers use their cards they spend more than when they're using cash. Shame on them. Good for you. Customers simply prefer taking out their cards and holding on to their cash. The customer is always right! Therefore, you might well look into wireless credit card machines.
