Forget The Competition - Camping Air Conditioner Review

By Anna Cox

It cools the air by around 15 degrees and that's pretty good for a $40 product. The only issue I have with this unit is that the water drips if you are not following the instructions properly, that is to fill up the bottle and pour from there, and I personally find it too inconvenient. It's not too big in size and not too heavy to carry around. It was 90 degrees and an obese person like me does not take the heat well. The sponge doesn't smell, but I think when not using it, even for an hour or two, take the sponge out, as it could easily grow bacteria and mold, like any wet sponge. It's not extremely cold, but cool enough, and the fan is so little and can be battery operated, you can just hold it and direct it to wherever you want.

She had to be careful not to get it too close to her face because of the little plastic blades. This device can sit there, right by you, or you can hold it. We ordered this fan after reading another on-line review. It lives up to its reputation....it is quiet and gives a good strong breeze.

Both units work great and make a big difference. Other fan/sprays are cheaper, but we tried them in the past and they do not work well.

If I want to be in the same room as my husband and children (which I do) then when I am not in my office, I can use the Handy Cooler rather than the Kuul Aire, and use the Handy Cooler just on me. The hubby and kids can be comfortable, and I can be comfortable.

I would have appreciated if they came with a car adapter which is why I didn't give this product 5 stars. Got it for only $39 on sale from Amazon and it came with free shipping. This product is suspect the motor gave out after a week and is cheaply made. I emailed the manufacturer and they did suggest sending it back but with the hassle of sending it back and getting the same thing again I decided not to. I also bought the flexible air tube for him to cool inside his heat-proof jacket. He loved the combination and does everything it claimed to do.

Otherwise, a great little mini air conditioner, that runs on batteries! I took this on my trip to Disneyworld in Florida and we are glad we bought this with us! I've been use this constantly and I've had no problems with it so far. I've used various desk fans before that I bought from target, Brookstone and home depot, but this really isn't the same them. I do outdoor camping a lot and it gets too hot in the summer at times. This has helped keep my tent cool but I would prefer it to ventilate fresh air from outside, and this doesn't do this very well.
