Why homeowners adore the quaint community of Grand Terrace

By Myra Smith

Home to an estimated 12,500 residents, the southern California City of Grand Terrace is as beautiful as they come. Situated between the ridges of La Loma Hills and Blue Mountain, the city provides a more suburban way of life. This west coast city, which is known as "blue mountain city" is located between the neighboring cities of Riverside and San Bernardino.

One of the main reasons families and retired couples purchase Grand Terrace homes for sale is because the city is known to have a low crime rate, quiet and safe streets and hospital residents, giving the city a small town feel, with the amenities of a larger city.

Prior to being incorporated into it's own city in 1978, the community was part of the south Colton area, until their split. Originally called "Terrace" for its elevation off ground, "Grand" was added later to reflect it's breathtaking scenery.

Many homes for sale in Grand Terrace CA are reasonably priced with the average single-family residence price around $250,000. Starter homes begin just under the $100,000 price point, which includes a variety of mobile homes and condominiums. A majority of single-family homes feature at least three bedrooms, two bathrooms and larger than average backyards with great views.

With four schools serving the area, families with children never have to worry about much of a commute. The city includes two elementary schools, one middle school and one high school, with Grand Terrace Elementary being named one of California's distinguished schools in the West Coast state. Currently high school students attend classes at Colton High School, while the city's High School is under construction. The school is slated for completion in August of 2012.
