The Numerous and Harmful Health Results of Obesity

It is pretty common knowledge that obesity is a dangerous condition for your general health. The health costs of excessive weight in 2010 for the US is massive and is well over 100 billion dollars per year. Obviously much less is spent for weight loss products and solutions, but it continues to be in the billions annually. The US continues to be slowly gaining more weight with each passing year, or so it appears. Several culprits that only worsen this situation are businesses that produce highly processed foods and unhealthy drinks. The main issue with a lot of foods and drinks is they contain poor varieties of fat and are full of sugar. We only have space for a few of the risks due to obesity.

Type 2 diabetes as a result of obesity continues to be increasing at an alarming rate in recent years. What has become even more alarming is the soaring number of cases of this condition in younger people who are also significantly overweight. Obesity may cause insulin resistance which is important and a precursor to higher levels of blood glucose. The scenario is made much worse with daily consumption of excessive amounts of sugar containing goods. Many organizations and people have tried to make the public aware of high fructose corn syrup in a great many drinks. Regular white sugar is undesirable enough, but high fructose corn syrup is incredibly sweet and detrimental with continuous ingestion.

Premature problems concerning joints can often be a side effect of the obese problem. Clearly the bottom extremeties bear the greatest burden, and so it makes sense that obese people have hip and knee joint complications. Osteoarthritis is commonly seen in these situations as well due to joint damage. Patients with extreme weight problems don't always make for the best prospects for artificial joints. While millions of people get joint replacements, there exists a higher chance for good results with typical weight conditions. Certainly only a medical professional will make the final decision for those with substantial weight problems. There are certain risks built in if surgery occurs simply because of the mechanics of the general situation. The elevated weight may actually result in the joint to become loose which can further damage encircling bone.

Problems are extremely common concerning the heart and specifically high blood pressure. It seems that almost every major function in the body is challenged. The reason behind this as it relates to the heart is the excess fat tissue still necessitates blood for nutrition and oxygen. The net impact is to put a terrific strain on the heart because of the needs of the excess fat tissue. The simple net effect is to produce a condition of higher blood pressure. In addition to the high blood pressure, the heart rate will probably be greater as well.

It is very apparent that obesity is a problem that severely impacts all capabilities of the body. These are simply some of the unwanted effects taken from a long list of medical conditions caused by severe weight gain.
