Tips To Expand Our NLP Skills

By Amelia Klein

Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) provides a complete variety of approaches and methods for causing change in both your daily life and the everyday life of loved ones and everybody else as well. When you try out your %LINK1% regularly, then you will begin to discover that the quality of your relationships and your communication skills will develop significantly. Furthermore, your NLP skills will help you to be in a position to accomplish things much better and quicker.

Something you will frequently hear spoken about with respect to NLP skills is resource states. Let's say you were able to wave an imaginary magic wand and feel any way you would like to feel, anytime you want. Now that would certainly be a gift worth developing!

You understand that there are occasions when we wish that we could act in a different way. You will possibly identify with individuals who are afflicted by stage fright. We do not actually have to be in the situation. Simply thinking about it can easily bring us out into a cold sweat. We recall times when we have been anxious in front of groups previously, and we might also use our imaginations to envision all the things that might go awry. And you know what, we are correct

You can notice from the example that we actually practise getting into damaging resource states, such as feeling worried, on a regular basis. Despite the fact that these states are not especially beneficial, we evidently know well the practice of state induction and there is no reason why we should not use the same method to produce beneficial resource states.

And so, what kind of emotional state would be helpful in this scenario? The choice is yours, but it would most likely be helpful to be self-assured and calm. There have possibly been quite a few additional situations when you have encountered these feelings previously. Simply sit back and think back to when you last felt calm and self-assured. Perhaps it was yesterday or perhaps many years ago. Remember everything about it, from how you were standing, how you were breathing, how you felt, what you noticed and what you were listening to at that time.

Now, if you are imagining that you cannot do this as you have not felt this way previously, then picture how somebody who is relaxed and self-assured would stand, breathe and feel. Perhaps this is somebody you respect for being this way. Once you have attained the sought after state, amplify it to make it as intense and attractive as you can. This is how one of your other %LINK1% comes into play. This is known as anchoring. In this example, an anchor is a trigger for the state change. Therefore, when you are fully experiencing the state such as calm and confident, that you want to bring back one day, you can, for instance, scratch the back of your neck or squeeze together the thumb and index finger of your left hand; it is your decision. In this manner, the selected action becomes an element of the calm and confident state. So, when you do the trigger action again, for example, as you think about or enter the situation in which you would previously have been anxious, you clearly enter the desired resource state.

You are possibly now acknowledging the relevance of practising the %LINK1% of generating resource states and anchoring. These are NLP techniques that you can apply to all areas of your life. Of course, the benefit of perfecting these skills is that the ensuing states will drastically boost your communication skills and have a beneficial influence on the other individuals that you come into contact with.
