The valuable producer's wineries are set near the Epernay in Champagne, France. It became Pol Roger only in 1900. A public face of the house was Maurice Pol Roger. He was a legendary mayor of Epernay. People re-elected him years after years because in 1914 he courageously stopped an invading German army to enter the town. Maurice sons took the business after his death. Today their direct descendants control the house. Since 1988, Christian de Billy and Christian Pol Roger are the leaders of the brand. Pol Roger House owns around 55 ha mostly in and out Epernay.

This is the best champagne from Pol Roger. Its name is self-explanatory, Cuvee Sir Winston Churchill, and it's made of Pinot Noir dominant. The first vintage of this cuvee was in 1975 and marketed 10 years later. The non-vintage Pol Roger champagnes include Pinot Meunier also. The Brut Reserve is made of one third of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Meunier.
