Double glazing window condensation

By Jamie Press

When I type into Google "condensation on double glazed windows" I find a myriad of discussion forums, etc that are talking about how to avoid condensation on windows or more specifically on double glazed windows. In general though, double glazed windows not only provide more security but also insulation for the property as well.

Well surely if the property is better insulated then there shouldn't be an issue of condensation, particularly on double glazed windows. Well not necessarily because 2 window panes are sealed together with a bitumen product to create a double glazed window panel. If the bitumen breaks down then the seal that is holding the two panes of glass together will also break, allowing damp air and water (or moisture) to penetrate through the two panes, causing condensation on double glazed windows.

Depending on who you got your double glazing unit installed from, you may have cover on those units in case something goes wrong. I can't give a figure on how long the guarantees last because some companies say lifetime and some say 15 years. Either way you should have soem form of warranty that allows you to get free replacement windows.

Now once you have established whether you require your double glazing units to be replaced or repaired, you can get either or done. In the case of replacement, you may need to get the company to analyse your existing windows to see if any others need replacing, because that way you can get one quote to get the job done rather than realising half way down the line that some other windows need replacing across the property.

With the advancements in double glazing units over the last few years you are bound to get a better quality set of double glazing units if you get them replaced now because you will get an improved set of double glazing units that are in most cases a lot stronger than the older installs.

Whilst you are at it, get the company to review the double glazing units across your entire property, because if others need replacing, yuo might as well start replacing them soon. You may even get a discounted quote to save a bit of money getting them all done in one go.

If you are struggling to find a double glazing specialist then you may want to scour the web for companies, as not only will you come across some lead generation companies but also specific double glazing companies that you can approach to get quotes from as well.

On the other hand, you can approach the company that you originally got your windows done from, or even work from a recommended company that for example your neighbours or friends have used.
