Wedding Photography In Reportage Style

By Charlie Michaels

Choosing a photography technique for a wedding is in the hands of the bridal couple. They can determine how they like their wedding to be recalled for the a long time through pictures. Although there are still needs for traditional wedding photography nowadays, the demands for such have decreased considerably. Betrothed couples in Singapore prefer a different approach in photography. Rather than having their photos while they pose and smile for the camera, they trust the photographer to just shoot photos at random times in the hopes that the pictures will show the true happening in their wedding.

Many wedding photographers in Singapore now provide reportage photography or photojournalism, which is a photography approach that captures the true ambience of the event. The couples don't have to stop and pose for the camera every time. They can simply act natural and the photographer will shoot pictures whenever they think that a worthy shot should be captured. As a result, they are able to take pictures that look natural.

The photographer can shoot sincere feelings that way since the couple and their guests don't have to pose and give their best smile in front of the camera. Fleeting but precious instances that are nearly impossible to be replicated and therefore must be taken on camera include the time when the bride's father sheds a tear as he hands his daughter over to her new husband, when the sleepy flower girl tries hard to stay awake during the ceremony, and when the groom shows an appreciative glance at his wife. These are moments that must be captured on camera because they make the wedding heartfelt.

But that doesn't mean that traditional photography isn't practiced anymore in weddings. In fact, it is almost necessary as well. The photographer has a list of must-take shots, that include the couple posing together before and after the wedding and the entire family posing with the newlyweds right after the wedding. But what couples prefer is to have most of the images unscripted.

A singapore wedding photographer may offer traditional or photojournalism photography for weddings. A lot of couples these days, however, prefer a combination of the two kinds, in which they have a list of photos that must be taken and the rest should show unscripted shots. Whatever couples choose, both make significant photos for the wedding album.
