Koh Samui Is The Classic Tropical Island Paradise

Koh Samui is a beautiful tropical island in the Gulf of Thailand. It is the third biggest island in Thailand and lies about 800km south of Bangkok and 80km off the east coast in the south of the country. Koh Samui has been a popular holiday destination for tourists for a long time, it is possible to stay at resorts, cheap bamboo bungalows, and it is even possible to rent a villa on the island.

Koh Samui is a very popular island paradise with white powdery sand and palm fringed beaches. The island has something for everyone, from independent travelers to families on vacation. There are some commercial beaches on the island, as well as quiet beaches that are much more relaxed.

The most popular and busiest beach on the island is Chaweng Beach. It is seven kilometers long and has white powder sand. It is perfect for swimming, sun-bathing and water sports during the day, and if you like to let your hair down there are plenty of bars and nightclubs on the main street just up from the beach. There are also many excellent restaurants that serves spicy Thai cuisine and food from all over the world. There is plenty of accommodation on the beach from backpacker orientated bungalows to expensive resorts. It is even possible to rent a villa on the beach.

Mae Nam Bophut, Bang Rak (Big Buddha) and Choeng Mon are much quieter options than Chaweng. These beaches is also absolutely stunning and there is no shortage of places to stay. So if you want a more authentic Thai experience, do not want to party all night or just want to have some beach to yourself then these beaches are worth checking out.

There are plenty of attractions on Koh Samui aside from the beaches. You can easily rent a scooter on the island, which makes the interior more accessible and is a great way to explore.

The beautiful Wat Khunaram Ko Samui temple is worth visiting. It is a classic Thai Buddhist temple and contains a mummified monk. The Big Buddha Temple, known as Wat Phra Ya is also worth a visit. It has a fantastic 15 meter high Buddha statue.

There is plenty for everyone to enjoy on the island of Koh Samui, with a multitude of water-sport activities, swimming, diving, snorkeling and much more.
