We All Need A Spiritual Awakening Some Time In Life

By Jessie Folson

The definition of spirituality remains somewhat wishy washy, since there are so many different emerging schools of thought. New age philosophies try to address the matter, but these ideas are constantly evolving and will continue to do so. Either way, each man in this day and age is in great need of a spiritual awakening at some point in life.

Babies are born into a world, but this world is seen through the eyes of someone else. We are taught ways of living, communicating and perceiving reality, until we are old enough to develop our own view of the world. Unfortunately, this is always to some degree molded by our greatest influences in life, our parents and teachers.

Some may say there is nothing wrong with this as many go through life unaffected, doing as there parents did, following religious customs and traditions. Some may be happy and content and have families and raise their children in this way. But it is a limited world view and it is a shame not to open the blinkers a bit wider.

There are so many different religious doctrines, philosophies and schools of thought that have perused this thing we call life. Many have tried to demystify human existence. And each theory is without a doubt very interesting and worth exploring.

It is a shame that many do not have the opportunity to explore many of these options. There is always a chance that we may be missing something of great value. Each religious book, philosophy and doctrine holds many precious gems that can give us good guidance and advice in life. Many are accused for being flawed or contradictory, but the wisdom is still there and can be of great value.

A spiritual awakening could be seen in this light as a single moment or a phase in life when one realizes the true meaning of life. It may involve seeing signs and following a gut feeling that one has to change certain aspects of his life. This strong nudge of the heart is what we may call a leap of faith.

For some it may be a life changing moment that brings on such an experience. It may be a car accident or a tragedy that makes him or her realize the meaning of life and the importance of making every moment count. Some may argue that it can only come about with knowledge, searching and eventually breaking free from the matrix.

From any angle, each person is in need of his or her own spiritual awakening to find true purpose and meaning to life. It is essential that we lift the blinkers on our eyes and see with certainty for ourselves rather than swallow indoctrination by scholars. For what do we teach out children and what legacy do we leave if our own lives do not make any sense to us.
