At the Last Supper, Jesus speaks about the betrayal and of His transformation as He rises from the dead. He metaphorically denotes the bread and wine to be His body and blood. The sacrament thus becomes the gateway for Christians to the eternal life as promised by our Savior. One is granted absolution from sin and from commitments that are not fruitful.
