Increased Profits With More Sales On The Backend

By Glenn Rosa

All the IM pros know about selling products on the backend to really boost the profits. It is all about attracting people in your sales funnel, and you accomplish that with a low priced yet attractive product. Your overall business will have an average lifetime value of your customers, and that is where backend marketing comes into play.

Backend marketing simply refers to selling to existing customers at higher and higher prices - in theory. You can even include an additional bonus for your first time customers, but make it really cool and do not announce it in the copy. When you blow people away with something really good, that makes them think you are different - that is good. If you put a little delay with the bonus delivery, then you can begin on your backend marketing with something leading to the second product. The best approach here is to avoid being too pushy, but you can start talking about something else without being pushy.

Remember, once someone buys from you, they are an asset to you; they're your valuable customers. So send out a thank you mail and let them know how valuable they are. Do not be shy about asking people how their experience was with your business. It's genuine courtesy from your end, which just goes to show your concern for your customers. You don't have to do this immediately, it can be done even a week later. Along with the mail, you can attach information about your backend products. This approach has the effect of helping them to be more relaxed and therefore receptive to your backend.

But what if you don't have your own backend product to promote? You can still do some things with this, so all hope is not lost. So the obvious and effective solution is to offer an affiliate product. You can easily find something for any market and it will work wonders. Just make sure you're using only those products that offer a good profit margin, and avoid the ones that offer a meager commission. You must only offer a quality product that is in line with your first product plus the commission is good.

Always keep in mind that you are going for the backend marketing approach, and then everything will sort of fall into place. So you should have no hesitation about getting started with your own backend marketing program.
