Visit Queensland Australia By Campervan

By John Wright

A tropical haven of wonderful beaches, palms, reef islands and rainforests, Cairns is the perfect location for a Queensland vacation. The benefits of travelling by campervan go on and on, the most evident being you have the liberty to pack up and go on to another location at any time. There are great savings in accommodation costs, including the added benefits offered by the caravan and holiday parks we have noted below. In no special order, they're our pick of many superb parks available in and around Cairns.

Crystal Cascades Vacation Park is found just 15 minutes from the town centre, this park is fantastic should you be looking for idyllic environment close to several of the encompassing attractions. Well-liked by bird watchers, there's a shopping centre 1 or 2 minutes drive away and just 15 to the beach. Enjoy some family time on the tennis court or simply relax and experience the quiet. The welcome news is there are no mozzies or sandflies here so that you can relax in peace. Facilities and facilities are fantastic and the ideal home away from home.

The Cairns Coconut Resort is encircled by about 30 acresof spotless grounds framed by palms, tropical gardens and rainforest. Found just 7 minutes from the city you're still based centrally with plenty of things to do in the resort, including mini golfing, tennis courts, volleyball and basketball to name a couple. There's also a lagoon with cold and hot spas, waterslide for the children, table tennis, bike track and heaps more for the kids. This place has each type of activity you could imagine even before leaving the front gates. When you're looking for a child friendly park, this is the one!

At the Cairns Villa Resort and Leisure Park you are only 4 kilometres from the city. There is a load of room to move with 10 acres of gardens, and a saltwater pool the ideal place for a cool down. All the essentials are here, together with a pool table, table tennis and television room. What appeals to me is the location, so handy to visit the local attractions or head inland and still come back to a chilled environment. Very clean and excellent service.

Coolwaters Holiday Park is located only seven minutes from the town, you'll feel just like you are living in an oasis, with a freshwater stream and mountainous perspectives in the back garden. This has my vote for its location and beauty, particularly for those actually desiring to get away and completely relax. Set in a tropical rainforest, you might like to stay put for a few days before you start exploring the rest of Cairns. The staff are great, with a steered rainforest walk, pizza night, entertainment, scone morning and masses more. The Kuranda Skyrail is just down the line, so you'll be assured plenty of action right on your doorstep. This park is an experience in itself, and totally suggested.

Lake Placid Caravan Park is just north of Cairns and below the Barron Brook Gorge Countrywide Park, the prize-winning Lake Placid Tourist Park is found on acres of rainforest and is the best escape from the hustle of the city. An amazing base for your holiday, this attractive hideaway offers many walking tracks with birds and wildlife everywhere, and children will love feeding the fish, turtles and ducks at Lake Peaceful. You are close to popular attractions including the Skyrail and Kuranda Pretty Railway, with Cairns, Port Douglas and Cape York all within driving distance.

All these caravan parks and many more are perfect places for you to camp with you campervan next time you're feeling like a vacation in Cairns.
