The Most Impatiently Awaited Cell Phones For the Remainder of 2012

By Faust Mendez

The smartphone game is like a unending maze. There's an infinite number of paths that you can try, but there is no exit. As quickly as you suspect you have reached the end, it only gets more complex. That's great for gadget lovers. It has been so great, that the most anticipated smartphones for the rest of 2012 are some dazzling devices. This a fast break down of the smartphones the world can't wait to own in 2012.

1. iPhone 5

This one is so obvious, we almost failed to put it on the list, but we could not reject the undeniable fact that everybody and everyone else can't bear to wait to experience the following update to the mythical iPhone. Apple disappointed some hardcore fans last year when the iPhone 4S didn't feature a cosmetic revamp. Of course, the phone's internals didn't displease, and we predict Apple to update both the visual appearance and the internals during the late summer or fall.

2. Galaxy S III

The successor to the GSII's throne is perhaps the only Android smartphone that will excite a Google fan's appetite more than the Galaxy Nexus. Of course, that might turn out to be the case if it ships with stock Android 4.0 or Android 4.0 with minimum UI enhancements. Expect this one to launch by June. July is less certain but still possible.

3. The Successor to Galaxy Nexus

Google unleashed the Galaxy Nexus in Nov 2011, and we're surprised we haven't heard any rumours about the successor already. We expect that to change as November 2012 approaches. Expect a quad-core processor, especially if the Galaxy S III ships with a dual-core processor.

4. Successor to the Xperia Play 2

The original Xperia Play was a long-rumored, long awaited product that disappointed on arrival. It's exactly what everyone wanted, a PSP-based phone with Android. It sounds great, but when it ultimately hit stores, it featured last year's specifications. While dual-core Android and iOS phones rocked the gaming industry, the first Xperia Play featured a feeble, single-core processor and a measly quantity of RAM. The Xperia Play 2 should ship with a beefy, dual-core processor and specifications comparable to other Androids on the market.

5. Motorola's Intel-Based Android Smartphone

This experimental smartphone by Motorola features capability. That is possible thanks partly to the Intel processor that lives inside the telephone. For the last couple of years, Intel absolutely lost the mobile telephone market to Samsung, Texas Instruments, Qualcomm and other firms. This new smartphone features a new processor by the chip maker, opening a new world of probabilities in the area of Android and Google.
