What You Need To Be Aware Of Regarding Custom Designed Hats For Church

By Larry R. Brunoc

Nothing is more spectacular and visually striking than women attending a Sunday service dressed up in elegant skirts and dresses, and topped with fashionable custom designed hats. The designs of the hats differ, from stylish, colorful and daring, to timeless and subdued. Feathers, veil, ribbons and flowers are typical hat accents, and a hat may have one or more of these. At present, dress hats are not just used on a Sunday church service, but they are also utilized for special luncheons, weddings, shopping and other occasions. The main wearers of fancy custom designed hats are rich people, such as celebrities and royalties. Hats create tremendous visual impact, especially when worn with matching accessories, such as shoes and a pocketbook.

Wearing of hats to a Sunday service began when Apostle Paul decreed that women must have their heads covered when in a place of worship. Many people continue to observe the charming tradition. British royalties and international celebrities are fond of using over-the-top, unique hats, particularly on state occasions.

Aside from royalties, African American women have a culture that involves wearing lively and colorful hats, along with scarves and veil to a Sunday service. They took Apostle Paul's command to heart, and added their own touch, by inserting feathers, veil, ribbon and flowers. In the early 20th century, women of African American descent, who are employed as servants, dress up for church in colorful hats and outfits. To them, wearing something festive and striking is a welcome break from the usual boring uniforms they wear to work.

For a lot of people, dressing up for church in elegant clothing, festive custom designed hats and other church accessories are ways to honor God and show him their reverence. Slaves in the past dress up for church by washing the only piece of clothing they own and designing their hats with whatever flower they could get a hold of. Wearing custom designed hats, in some cultures, is indicative of a person's high social stature. Rich and important people coordinate their elaborate hats with accessories, such as gloves and pocketbooks.

Custom designed hats are specially popular on two special occasions, namely Easter and Mother's Day. It is common for devout crown wearers to own 50 or more hats. Just like a dress code, there are also hat codes observed to serve as fashion guidelines. A hat that goes past the shoulders and with a color darker than the shoes is a fashion travesty. Hats with feathers must be looked into carefully to ensure that the feathers are in great condition and that there are no broken pieces.
