The Significance of Having the Most Suitable Team on Your Exhibition Stand

By Ruth Williams

The work you and coworkers did in preparation for a successful exhibition will only come to fruition if the team you have working at your stand does well. You have spent a lot of time and money already on the execution of many aspects, but you also need to ensure that your team is ready and well-equipped to promote what you are selling.

It is very important to give your people a specific job to do while the actual exhibition is happening. Each individual ought to be assigned tasks that dovetail with their strong suits, and overall, the team should be cohesive. Ideally, these would be people who work well together in the office anyway, and the exhibition stand is just taking their already cemented work relationship public for the customer to see. Since it is crucial to secure all possible leads, a team of experienced sales associates should be assembled.

If your stand looks great, you should certainly ensure that those manning it look great too. Once you've decided what each team member's exhibition stand role will be, give some thought to how they will appear. Your team should look like a team, either in company shirts and similarly colored trousers/dresses and shoes, or in similar business attire.

Make sure that your people have the right attitude going in. They should be positive and accommodating to the visitors of the exhibition. Avoid burdening them with other tasks the evening before the event, particularly if they will be commuting to the site. Also the team should be ready for long hours working at the exhibition stand and most of the time they will be standing on their feet.

These things must be discussed during a training course for your staff, which should be scheduled for some time before the actual show. The team should practice running through and simulating situations that could possibly emerge. Have your team deal with less-than-perfect situations. It's very important for all to be prepared and to truly understand both the services and products that the company is promoting. If the exhibition team fully understands your expectations of their conduct and duties, and are given the proper tools, then your exhibition should run smoothly and generate leads now and in the future.
