New And Exciting Developments In The Vacation Market

By Nicholas Lancaster

Whereas there were precious little in the past, vacation options are now more varied and plentiful for travelers. Whether relaxing with the better half on a cruise ship or going on an adventurous safari, today's traveler is practically inundated with options. This becomes a potentially contentious decision when the entire family is involved. One person going on a trip can often get a special deal. Even two people can travel and receive substantial discounts on packaged vacations. Unfortunately, families often have to be told "hard cheese" when looking for deals. The common assumption is that family travel means travel with the kids - those rambunctious ruffians who are much better seen than heard.

Quite frequently, resorts would charge a premium on families with children, and would give the reason that they would need to cater to the children's needs, may it be kids' meals, kiddie entertainment, amusement facilities or whatnot. Some resorts actually do go to great lengths and substantial costs to accommodate these young guests. As mentioned, children's meals (for finicky children who may have their own mealtime quirks), entertainment programs and even daycare would be among the services these resorts offer.

But the last half-decade or so has witnessed a sea change as far as the vacation market is concerned. There are now more varied options that would allow families to go on a vacation without needing a copious amount of quid. This is a totally new market, a paradigm shift if you may with regards to the way families think about going on vacation.

This wide range of options now covers timeshares, villas for rent, all inclusive resorts, wholesale vacations, cottage rentals and numerous points and exchange programs - a truly extensive and expansive selection that has never been seen before. Did you know you can actually rent a cottage and get it as an "all inclusive" package? You couldn't possibly have taken advantage of such a deal ten years ago!

But what really matters if you are having a family vacation is preparedness - there are several things you must consider, namely:

Is there something that can be done in case of injury or other fortuitous event? What options have you, such as liability coverage or insurance? Are you absolutely guaranteed of getting the package you had hitherto booked? If you happen not to like the place after all, what is your recourse? Refunds? What are the hidden costs (groceries, boats, or things that are not covered in the basic rental agreement?

These are very simple questions that must all be taken into consideration to ensure you have a smashing time out there. Enjoy your vacation and spend the time with your family and your friends and make sure that you get your well deserved break from work. Enjoy!
