Do You Know The Fun Of Caravan Dwelling?

By Gillian Tyler

One of the greatest holidays you can have is in a caravan, you can just go whenever you feel like it and don't have to worry about hotels or apartments. There is so much freedom and you can pitch up in some very nice locations surrounded by natural beauty, mostly far better locations than you could have if you were staying in a hotel.

To take a caravan holiday is very cheap, but to actually buy one isn't quite so cheap. If you are going to get your own caravan then you might want to consider second hand as its going to save you a lot of money, there are however many things that you should take into consideration.

The most obvious thing to observe is the general condition of the caravan, if it looks in a state of bad repair then it's probably going to need some work on other parts as well. Some bad paint work can be fixed up easily so you don't need to reject a caravan just because of a bit of peeling paint. In fact you might even want to consider giving it a fresh coat of paint anyway.

You can look online at advertising sites as well as in local papers and magazines for static caravans for sale and once you have seen some that interest you, the next thing is to arrange a viewing session. You should make sure that you inspect the interior of the caravan and make sure that it's in reasonable condition. Often the seats are worn in second hand caravans although this need not be a major concern as it won't be too expensive to have the fabric replaced, or even replace the seats from a caravan that is being scrapped.

Make sure that you test out all of the appliances within the caravan, especially the electrics, if possible you want to have the caravan connected up so you can test that all the electrics work properly, as this can be a real pain to sort out not to mention expensive. Make a check of the other fitted amenities and ensure everything is working and in good order.

If the inside checks out ok then now would be a good time to give a more thorough once over on the outside of the caravan. You should be looking out for any major patches of rust as these could present a problem, plus check the overall paintwork condition. Small amounts of rust can be patched up so bear that in mind. Take a look at any joins in the construction, they should be securely fixed but also sealed to block moisture getting inside the caravan which could potentially cause damp problems.

You should next inspect the underside of the caravan and also get some light on the situation, so take a torch or light of some kind, you want to be very through with this. It would be well worth an inspection of wheels and tyres. The most important thing is that the metal frame underneath is structurally sound otherwise you could be looking at some expensive repairs.

Before you make a final decision make sure to look at the towing equipment as this needs to be in sound working order.

So make sure you take your time in choosing the perfect caravan for you, there are many to choose from and if you look hard enough and you will find the perfect one for you.
