The new African Arts Centre, was built at two hemispheres

The Lily Pond on the equator, Nanyuki is a thrilling new Arts Centre, offering provoking contemporary but affordable african art, gifts and healthy lunches - which makes a unmatchable special break on a Kenyan safari schedule.

This new latest arts centre is situated just off the primary Nanyuki "Nairobi highway route into Samburu National Park, Ol Pejeta Conservancy (Sweetwaters), Meru National Park and Mount Kenya Safari Club and therefore makes a perfect break on the Kenyan safari trail.

The vast art gallery displays affordable contemporary art from East Africa's top modern artists, away from the hustle of town life.

The Art Gallery houses art graduates from art faculties in Nairobi, Kenya who are on full-time, long term placements at the arts centre, producing and showing new affordable art works.

This new art studio in Nanyuki, aims to operate as a springboard for young artists to launch their art careers, while allowing safari visitors to buy original artworks.

Safari guests can also enjoy a good lunch on a deck, overlooking an enormous lily pool.

With the great Mount Kenya mountain as a background, art visitors can also like watching the white egret, hunting the frogs in the pond!

What Kenyan safari guests find fantastic is that the equator slices clean through the middle of this Arts Centre. This means that you can view electrifying african art in both the Southern Hemisphere and the Northern Hemisphere!

This new Arts Centre in Nanyuki, has just installed a new equator sculpture, the Wish World, which is installed exactly at 0000000. Everyone writes down their wishes and then hangs them onto the "Wish Globe".

Did you know that objects move in different directions in the Northern and Southern hemispheres of the Equator? You can test the Coriolis effect at the Lily Pond Arts Centre, which is precisely on the Equator in Nanyuki.
