St Augustine Weddings Romantic And Elegant

By Teresa Fields

Planning a wedding away from home without the trauma normally associated around this event has become a popular choice for many couples. St Augustine weddings offer couples the opportunity of taking their vows in the oldest city in the States in delightful romantic settings. Function organizers are on hand to arrange the whole affair leaving the bridal couple to enjoy their momentous occasion.

This city is over 400 years old and has a wonderful ambiance of history and culture. In 1513 a Spanish explorer landed at this site and named the area La Florida. It was only in 1565 however that the first foreigners settled successfully. A tribe known as the Timucuan Indians inhabited parts of the area at that time. The city still has famous landmarks showing the Spanish influence.

The arrival of a contingent of French Huguenots in 1564 added to the cultural mix and their influence in the city's development is visible even today. The British gained control in 1763 when they ceded their stake in Havana to the French. Their arrival brought a new culture into the mix. Many French buildings were changed and new ones built which are now heritage sites.

This intermingling of cultures has brought richness to the modern culture of St Augustine and it has become an ideal place to celebrate nuptials. A wonderfully romantic place offering horse carriages from a bygone era to sun dazzled beach party weddings.

Event planners offer a variety of venues where the ceremony and reception can be held. Themed receptions ranging from historical to beach parties with fabulous French cuisine or local food favorites are all catered for.

After the nuptials couples can spend their honeymoon in one of the many beachfront rooms with their own private balconies. St Augustine weddings are special and for couples that have experienced them they remain a treasured memory.
