How To Audition for American Idol

By Bobby Franklin

When you see American Idol auditions on TV it seems like everyone gets to see Simon, Paula, and Randy, but this isn't true. In this article, I'll let you know the entire process it takes for the American Idol audition and tell you what you should expect. Keep your eyes peeled and keep reading to find out. Here is a list of American Idol castings in your area or if you are interested also some MTV auditions. It has been already 9 seasons of American Idol and there will be more coming. That means there will more auditions for American Idol coming up. What you see on TV for an American Idol episode about auditions is not what really happens behind the scenes.

The truth is that you will be in line for hours at a time. Also you don't get to perform in front of Randy, Paula, or Simon. There will be no cameras unless they film you in line for a fraction of a second. What happens is that you have to past this milestone before you can see the celebrity judges you see on TV during an American Idol episode. The casting directors will then advance you to the next round if you have the right look and can sing really well.

They even choose people who are horrible on purpose so that they can show clips of that during an episode. It's really tough because even people who can sing really well may not make it to the next round. The truth of the matter is that if you aren't white, attractive, and marketable, you won't make it. -- Even if you are the best singer out there. That's the harsh reality, but it's their show and they can choose whomever that want to. You can get movie auditions in your area.

This is not to sway you away from auditioning, this is just looking at the past people that casting directors have chosen. For example, look at William Hung with that "She Bangs, She Bangs" song. He was horrible, but the casting directors knew that they could market him and make him a laughing stock of the whole country. What ever got ratings was the best motivation for the casting directors. Less than half of a percent of all candidates on the show get to see the celebrity judges and be on TV.

I don't tell you these things to discourage you, but instead to make you try harder to get it. Star in your own song and find auditions for music videos. Also have your kid go to acting auditions for kids I wish you the best of luck with your American Idol auditions and keep trying because you never know.
