General Insight Of Pipe Camera

By Darryl Jones

A pipe camera has established itself as one of the most useful concoctions created by man. These devices have a large variety of uses like surveillance, pipeline inspections, digital viewing of hard-to-get-areas, etc. Being able to fit a tube-like camera in areas that the human body would not fit is a bonus.

The most common uses for these devices are for plumbing activities. When a suspected problem is thought to be in the pipes, plumbers can use the devices to find blockages or leaks. Then, plumbers can do proper maintenance or replacement procedures.

Without the use of video equipment, plumbers often find that they come up short while attempting to located poor drainage, water loss, and severe clogging. The video probes, in most cases, provide light for better visibility. The light and the probe are cost-effective methods to view in the interior without having to disassemble.

This technology has been around for numerous years. The cost for the device depends on several factors like reel operating temperature, camera sensitivity/resolution, reel capacity, and other features. If plumbing is one's profession, then items like these are standard in the industry. People who own homes in a remote area and are running on a septic system might find the tool to be a constructive accessory.

When the interior of an area is too compact for a human to reach, the modern video apparatus can fill the gap between human accessibility and destination points. Rental properties or hotels piping drainage systems are complex and convoluted. It would not be surprising for these businesses to keep a reel in-house. The electronic probes provide property managers and owners a cost-effective solution to access areas that are exhibiting problems. When problems are located, it is common to use water jetting or high-power auger equipment.

One of the most revolutionary products is the vCam Modular. It is a push-rod inspection video system that provides two primary components; vCamView and the vCamDigital. It comes in three reel sizes; standard, mini, and large. The standard reel is up to 200ft. The mini reel is ideal for small-diameter pipes and is roughly 100-200ft. Large reels are ideal for pipes with extremely long distances up to 400ft.

The vCamDigital allows operators to utilize various features like a high-capacity hard drive, keyboard, titler and sound system with up to 16 pages of text, and audio commentary. The videos may be uploaded by SD card or USB interface to any stick/jump drive. The data can be straightforwardly recorded to SD cards. The video-in and video-out function is quite standard and provides flexibility in recording to external digital equipment.

The vCamView is utilized for direct view on the CCTV. In contrast to the vCamDigital, this device retains the video-in and video-out, but there is no titler or sound functionality. The pipe camera control module offers tilt-handling for easy viewing. The keyboard is made waterproof and is silicon rubber. An external 12V auto power or internal rechargeable batteries are two options to power the device. If operators are out in the sun, the 8-inch, TFT LCD color display is recessed for easy viewing in strong sunlight.
