Taking a spa holiday in the Algarve

By Henrietta Savage

The Algarve is the southernmost part of Portugal, is situated third on the list of most wealthy regions in the country and is an incredibly popular destination for holiday makers. Every year it can take in around 10 million visitors. There are many reasons people go to the Algarve, including the wonderful beaches, the fantastic selection of restaurants and bars, the immersive culture, and the nightlife which can be really great in some areas. Of late, however, spa holidays have really been taking off, so what follows is a look at some of the places you can visit in the Algarve for a spa break.

It's not hard to see why spa breaks are so popular, given that holidays are supposed to be times set aside for relaxation and peace from your stressful life, sometimes holidays where you are constantly out and about just don't cut it. Why not head to the Grande Real Santa Eulalia Resort Hotel and Spa in the Santa Eulalia area of Albufeira. This is hidden away in a quiet area surrounded by its own grounds, but is also not far from all the lively bars of the Albufeira 'Strip', so here you can get the best of both worlds.

The CS Sao Rafael Suite Hotel, found in the Sesmarias area just to the west of the Albufeira old town. It has been awarded five stars so you can be assured that your every need will be met. On offer here is a huge array of different therapeutic and hydrotherapy treatments, from Jacuzzis and steam rooms to saunas. There is also a good gym for working off all that delicious food you will be eating!

The Jasbah City spa, located in the Pinhal do Concelho area to the east of Olhos d'Agua not too far from the Pine Cliffs Resort. This spa resort is just a day spa rather than a hotel or any other kind of resort, meaning that it is more focused on the various treatments it offers than other places are. It offers amazing well-being treatments and many kinds of massage.

As you can see there is plenty available for those looking for the ultimate relaxation holiday. Why not travel from area to area experiencing the different treatments at different resorts as you go. There's nothing stopping experiencing the other things in the Algarve as well as spending a good few days in a spa.
