Solitaire Engagement Rings - A Long Lasting And Well-accepted Choice

By Adrian Jones

Solitaire Engagement Rings Symbolize Eternal Love

From solitaire engagement rings to Celtic wedding bands, on Orkney you will find trendy, classic and retro designs to grace your fingers for a long time. One can find Scottish and Celtic themes to make them that little more unique and meaningful. Some rings have inscribed endearments whilst others show the world you care with the symbols they represent, like a knot ring for unceasing love or the ever-popular Heart ring. Solitaire engagement rings speak for themselves.

In the past many people found love on the shores of Orkney, including partners who had been thrown together while serving in the armed forces during World War Two. The regional services newspaper at that time was filled with wedding announcements.

A filmmaker in Orkney, Mark Jenkins, has just been chosen to create a new work of art that will express the cultural heritage of Scapa Flow where many of those people were stationed. Mark said he was particularly drawn to the memoirs of service people dispatched to Orkney which are incorporated into Nina Brown's Scapa Flow. Mark Jenkins has worked on many movies over more than 2 decades. His credits include editing the BAFTA Scotland Award winning "Ma Bar" in 2009 and Peter in Radioland voted Best International Short Film at Glasgow Film Festival in 2010.

The short 12-week residency, funded by the Scapa Flow Landscape Partnership Scheme is situated at the Pier Arts Centre in Stromness which will culminate in a new film which will be screened in June 2012.

Inspiring Solitaire Engagement Rings

Orkney jewellery designers are always empowered by the landscape and the culture of these rough islands. There's a never-ending cycle of new work. Next month you will see hundreds of new instances of paintings, ceramics, textiles and jewelry on show at the Pier Arts Centre. It's an open exhibition for residents and it's always mind-boggling to view the skills shown.

Therefore it's no surprise that people that live here, have visited or are merely interested in our culture and the riches of our artwork, come back to buy historical and vintage pieces. And it's really a natural progression that young couples choose our Celtic wedding bands and solitaire engagement rings once they elect to tie the knot.
