Some handy tips for bridal makeup

By Louisa Farrelly

1. Cosmetic Routine to be followed before the important day

For that ideal glow on the wedding day, you need to think about a couple of things a few weeks before the big day. About 6 weeks before the marriage, you must start a skin and nail care plan. Tell your beauty consultant to offer you regular facials and manicures.

Avoid going in sun about 3-4 weeks prior to the marriage. Sunburns and peeling skin should not disrupt your big day.

2. Take care of your Body-Mind-Spirit

Always remember the importance of Body-Mind-Spirit. What's going on within you is as crucial as looking good. We all know that preparing for a wedding is very intense and if you're not taking good care of yourself by not sleeping enough or not eating properly, it'll definitely think on your face!

If you are feeling actually strung out before the wedding, consider having a calming massage once every week during the month of marriage and also a day before the wedding day. Also, burn some relaxing important oils around the house to help calm your nerves.

3. Trial

Organize a trial around 1-2 months before the wedding, after you have selected your make-up artist.

Ask the make-up artist to show you a few photographs from mags which will help you in deciding a look.

Tell her if you've got any skin problems or allergies etc or if there are any particular strategies you wear your make-up.

If you're wedding is in the daytime, it is ideal to organise the trial during the daytime as it will give you a better idea as to the way in which the make-up will look

4. Have pictures your wedding gown and bridesmaid's dresses

If you show the make-up artist footage of your wedding ensemble and bridesmaids wedding outfits, it'll give her/him the idea for planning the perfect look for you.

5. What look to go with

The style that you plan to choose for your marriage make-up will finally depend on your personal preference, but there are some other considerations that you must consider:

The time of the ceremony A lot depends on the time of the marriage. Is it during day time or in the evening? A delicate, natural look is more suited to a day marriage and a rather more striking look is suited to an evening one.

If you're blond or have a light-skinned, cool tones of gray, blue, soft pink and lilac are ideal for you.

If you are a brunette or olive skinned, warm neutral tones of brown, taupe, burgundy & red will suit you more.

6. Your Face

Foundations with yellow undertones work perfectly with flash photography.

Avoid using glisten highlighters as this look will not look well in stills and give a reflective shine.

Ask your make-up artist to utilise a bronzing powder, it'll warm your skin tone and wll give your face a natural glow.

7. Your Eyes

The make-up around your eye-area should be soft and natural with no heavy, dark lines.

Use a brow pencil which is a little darker than your hair colour and stay away from heavy, dark shadows.

8. Your Lips

Utilise a lip-liner which is of the same color as your lipstick and don't use a conspicuous or dark lip line, it is tacky.

If you define one area in your make-up, it will look more pleasing. If you would like dark and defined eyes, go for a lighter lip shade and if you would like bright lips, go for natural, light eyes.

Just remember these tips and you may look the most lovely bride on your wedding day.
