Resilience Skills

About Resilience. Resilience has not been thoroughly defined by the major medical behavioral culture yet. Some people feel like they know it when they see it and use this as the basis for the definition. Below we are going to talk about a few skills that seem to be related to resilience and might even lead to being able to train for it and develop it over time.

Healthy people are more resilient. A high quality diet coupled with exercise can dramatically increase your overall resilience. Persons who are strong and healthy will often times come out of traumatic situations with a greater sense of control which may lead to a higher chance of turning a stressful situation into a learning experience. Good food may play a biochemical role in creating a more resilient outlook. Don't underestimate the power of a good jog on its ability to improve your overall mental state.

We were made to have friends and people to share with. A good social network that you can trust with your stress and fears can work wonders for giving you a more resilient outlook. Have you ever noticed how many war stories their are floating around it is because soldier who have experience really traumatic situations need to vent their experiences with others to help maintain a resilient perspective. Take some time to get together with friends whenever you can, not just to unload all your problems but to build strong bonds that we all need to be healthy.

Learn to navigate your brain. If you have had a tough experience it is totally natural for your brain to keep you posted on what happened and work to keep you from forgetting it. By noticing those inner working you can come to grips with the feels you may have surrounding an event and defuse it. Hiding your feelings from yourself will not kept you from having to deal with them so recognize though patterns and tell yourself that it is something you are working through.

Get working to make a better tomorrow for yourself. Stop dwelling in the past because nothing you do can ever change what has already happened. The world is full of examples people who one day just woke up and decided to make things totally different for them selves why not be one of them. Get out their set some goals meet those goals and be more resilient.
